|
1 |
Miami |
Jake Long OT |
Signed, sealed, delivered. |
|
2 |
St. Louis |
Chris Long DE |
Dorsey's the best on
board, and they can always move Carriker outside to LDE, but I just
don't think they will draft still another DT with a high pick. |
|
3 |
Atlanta |
Glenn Dorsey DT |
Will it be Dorsey or Ryan?
Dorsey is rated higher on most boards, and they can always opt to
grab a Brohm or Flacco with their next pick. |
|
4 |
Oakland |
Vernon Gholston DE/LB |
Smart money is saying
McFadden, and they're making noises that - despite signing a whole
bevy of RB's - they wouldn't be adverse to drafting the Arkansas RB.
But Gholston also has freaky measurables, and the Raidiz need a pass
rusher more. |
|
5 |
Kansas City |
Brandon Albert G |
We're going Albert here
based on latest buzz. Bur having picked up Minnie's
#17 (and creating a need for a new DE to replace Jared Allen) they
could go in several different directions. Big question is: "How
wedded are they to Brody Croyle? We're guessing not much - Ryan
makes sense here. |
|
6 |
Jets |
Matt Ryan QB |
McFadden is hogging the
NYC headlines. Makes logical sense. But they've spent a lot of time
out of the publicity limelight with Ryan, and - with Pennington kind
of porcelain, it would be hard to pass up a franchise QB |
|
7 |
New England fr SF |
Darren McFadden RB |
You never know with
Belicheck. Local buzz is that they'd grab McFadden if he fell to
them. The more logical pick would be at corner - They lost Assante Samuels
and CB's don't grow on trees. Fortunately they do grow at the
#7-hole in the draft. It could be any one of 3 or 4 CB's (Cromartie,
McKelvin, M Jones or Cason). In our opinion, Cromartie has the most
upsde. |
|
8 |
Baltimore |
Sedric Ellis DT |
Ravens need a QB, but it's
kind of high to select Flacco or Brohm here. A rumor is floating
around that Ellis is on their radar screen. (Might be all bluff,
though to convince Cincy - who really wants Ellis - to swap
positions) |
|
9 |
Cincinnati |
Rashard Mendenhall RB |
Said to want Ellis badly.
Also rumored to select Mendenhall should Ellis not be there. Rivers
a possibility; however, the return of Odell Thurman makes the
position-need less urgent. |
|
10 |
New Orleans |
Leodis McKelvin B |
Said to be in the hunt for
a CB. Who are we to disagree? Although we like Cromartie more,
McKelvin is more widely considered the top CB prospect this year.
(Note - Mike McKenzie is rehabbing nicely and could take the
heat off NO to draft a CB) |
|
11 |
Buffalo |
Keith Rivers LB |
Buffalo is hard to figure
out. They really want a WR, but we're not convinced any one this
year is worth a #11. (Maybe they'll try to trade down. Or they could
opt for a tall, big-handed guy who can play in cold weather - llke a
Malcom Kelly. Or (per the CW - they could opt for a corner and
either grab Jenkins or Rodgers- Cromartie. Or they could reach a bit
for Balmer inside. |
|
12 |
Denver |
Ryan Clady OT |
They say they want to
bolster their running attack. They can do it either by drafting a RB
like Mendenhall or drafting a big ol' lineman who can block for the
RB's they've got. |
|
13 |
Carolina |
Derrick Harvey DE/OLB |
The Charlotte Observer is
bandying Harvey's name around. |
|
14 |
Chicago |
Chris Williams OT |
You never know what these
guys are likely to do. Conventional wisdom says they'll take the
highest rated offensive tackle. That be Williams. |
|
15 |
Detroit |
Jonathon Stewart RB |
No big ol' WR's for Matt
Millen to draft this year. |
|
16 |
Cardinals |
Dominique
Rodgers-Cromartie CB |
Could be
between Rodgers-Cromartieor Mike Jenkins and Stewart or Mendenhall.
We think Rodgers-Cromartie is the most talented corner in this
year's draft |
|
17 |
Kansas City from Minnesota |
Phillip Merling DE/OLB |
Who knows what KC will do?
What we do know is that they have to replace Jared Allen with
someone who can pass rush but is also strong against the run. |
|
18 |
Houston |
Mike Jenkins CB |
They need a corner.
Jenkins fits the bill. |
|
19 |
Philadelphia |
Calais Campbell DE |
Guys they brought in to
pass rush haven't worked out all that well of late. |
|
20 |
Tampa Bay |
Andre Caldwell WR |
Checking out wide
receivers. Brought in Caldwell who seems to combine the speed their
looking for with some modicum of size. |
|
21 |
Washington |
Jeff Otah OT |
Their once impenetrable
offensive line has grown shaggy of late. Otah is a road grader. |
|
22 |
Dallas (fr Cleve) |
Felix Jones RB |
Strictly based on buzz
about Jerry Jones (who no longer has Bill Parcells looking over his
shoulder - or was it the other way around) wants either of the two
Arkansas RB's. |
|
23 |
Pittsburgh |
Jonathan Stewart RB |
Seek a bigger RB to take
the load off smaller, quicker Willie Parker |
|
24 |
Tennessee |
DeSean Jackson WR |
Vince Young needs help. |
|
25 |
Seattle |
Fred Davis TE |
If they can't do the deal
for Schockey, they might roll the dice on Davis (although we
wouldn't) |
|
26 |
Jacksonville |
Kenny Phillips S |
Need help at safety.
Phillips is by far the best at his position (though by no means the
next Ed Reed0 |
|
27 |
San Diego |
Gosder Cherilus OT |
A BPA drafting team. At
this point, there seems to be a pretty flat plateau, but we'd rate
Cherilus or Dan Connor best available at this point |
|
28 |
Dallas |
Antoine Cason CB |
Well, they do expect the
Pac-ster back in a year or so, but you can't have too many good
corners. |
|
29 |
San Francisco (fr Indy) |
Dan Connor LB |
We suspect they'd grab
Cherilus here if he were to fall to them (as could very well happen)
but like the idea of Connor playing next to last year's top pick
Patrick Willis |
|
30 |
Green Bay |
Joe Flacco QB |
They're saying they're
likely to draft a QB (Of course they're not saying "when", but we're
guessing it would be now. If so, they could either go Brohm (who
resembles Rodgers and would be a good system-fit as an understudy)
or try to replace the playmaking excitement of Brett Favre by
drafting the guy with the rocket-launcher arm (Flacco). We say
Flacco. |
|
31 |
New England (forfeit) |
(Forfeit) |
|
|
32 |
Giants |
Curtis Lofton ILB |
Could go in many
directions - probably on the defensive side of the ball. Anyone
they'd pick at this spot will involve some degree of uncertainty and
risk. Lofton provides a tough element you can never have enough of
in late wintern on the frozen tundra of the Meadowlands.. |
|
Projected
Cardinal Picks |
|
This year is tricky,
because no expert's draft board even remotely resembles any one
else's. There's no single source trustworthy enough to represent a
credible source to project where a specific player will be selected.
For example, some scouts rate Cromartie #10 overall. But the War
Room rates him #66th ranked player. Go figure. Nevertheless, we'll
give it our best shot. |
|
16 |
Cardinals |
Rodgers-Cromartie
CB |
I like him
better than any other CB in the draft. I base this more on eyeballs
than on reputation. He's big. He runs fast. He can leap high to come
down with the ball. He makes plays on the football field. Biggest
rap on him is that the tape most scouts on him was "grainy" and hard
to watch. |
|
50 |
Cardinals |
K Smith RB |
Another
guy who some scouts rate as a Top 20 player, but are entirely off
NFLDraft Scouts.com's Top 100 draft board. An initial slow forty
time did him in early, but he ran a 4.46 at his Pro Day. To me, he
looked terrific in games and he weighs in the 220 range. So if
his timed-speed is that good, what's the problem? |
|
81 |
Cardinals |
Schuening
G |
Wiz likes
a power running game. Our O-line's run blocking is a bit "soft"
(especially on the left side). Schuening is the antipathy of soft. |
|
116 |
Cardinals |
Booker DT |
We need
depth behind Dockett (especially considering his recent crankiness
over his contract). Time to stockpile |
|
149 |
Cardinals |
Z Bowman
CB |
If Bowman
can rebound from serious injury, he's a first round talent. A high
risl/high reward pick at a spot in the draft when a team can afford
to take calculated ones. |
|
185 |
Cardinals |
Zbikowski
SS |
When
Adrian Wilson goes down, who do we got? Francisco? (He's OK over on
the other side, but not the banger A-Dub is). Zbikowski is a big
thumper who, incidently, ran in the mid 4.4's. |
|
225 |
Cardinals |
J Johnson
QB |
He may be
gone by now (though the War Room ranks him in UDFA territory) but I
think he may turn out to be the draft steal of the century - He's
like a poor man's Vince Young - only smarter. The only negatives are
that he doesn't have a Flacco-like arm and he didn't play in elite
competition. I like this guy a lot. |
