TRAINING CAMP PLAYER TRACKER
Starter. Injured.

Quarterbacks:
7 Matt Leinart

6-4 224 USC (D1) Oakland Game Note -  Looked awful. Threw three picks, completed just 4 of 12 and may have lost his starting job...KC Game Note -  Unimpressive in the 2Q; Redeemed himself in the 3Q...Pretty waggle completion running right and throwing across his body...NO Game Note -  Answered  most of the major questions about recovery, rust etc. To us, the difference between Leinart and KW is that, while Warner seems instinctively to know where he's going with the ball, Matt still needs time to go through his progressions to pick up his open man. With Leinart, you can never be quite sure where the play will wind up; whereas you know in an split-second with Warner. On the other hand, Matt's more mobile and obviously has a greater long-range upside.
13 Kurt Warner

6-2 200 Northern Iowa ( FA Oakland Game Note -  Came in late in 1H. Almost fumbled away ball. Came back to lead the offense to a 2H TD. Played well enough to earn a promotion to starter... KC Game Note -  Opened the game and looked rusty. Lacks the mobility to escape outside contain on waggle plays...NO Game Note -Didn't play - feeling is that starting job is Leinart's to lose and not KW's to win.
02 Brian St. Pierre

6-3 230 ( FA) Oakland Game Note - Played most of 2H and looked more comfortable than previously. One TD completion... KC Game Note - Entered game and immediately threw a gimme TD completion to Castille...NO Game Note - Manages the game well enough to be trusted, but didn't look consistent enough to lead his offense to many victories. Predisposed to get "happy feet"  and throw off his back foot too often, preventing him from being consistently accurate.
12 Anthony Morelli

6-4 231 Penn St. (UDFA) Cut 8/30. Oakland Game Note - Brief appearance of little or no consequence...KC Game Note - Saw limited action in 4Q.
Running Backs:
32 Edgerrin James RB, 6-0 214 Oakland Game Note - Ripped off a couple of nice long runs...KC Game Note - Pretty second-effort run in 2Q. NO Game Note - In for just one series. Looks like the same old Edge. No holes opened up for him in his brief appearance.
45 Terrelle Smith FB 6-0 246 ASU (FA Cleve) Oakland Game Note -  May have played but we didn't see him...KC Game Note - Saw little meaningful action... NO Game Note - After making a spectacular catch out of the backfield, he dragged the entire NO defense for an additional 7 - 8 yards and almost scored.
28 JJ Arrington 5-8½ 214 California Oakland Game Note -  Two carries (for +4 and +71 yards)...Apparently, the lights are finally turned on for him and (as a tv guy put it) "the bubble should finally be off his back."....KC Game Note - Played with greater sense of urgency both on kickoffs and making decisive cuts from scrimmage. NO Game Note - Bobbled a screen pass, stumbled after catching another and didn't impress much returning kicks.
46 Tim Castille FB 5-11, 234 - Alabama UDFA) Oakland Game Note -  4 catches and we saw at least one pretty lead block KC Game Note - NIce inside run. Nice catch in the flat. Got wide open for a long TD completion - all in all a very nice day. But in the end, his competition with Terrelle Smith will be all about blocking... Backing up T Smith (for now)
34 Tim Hightower RB  Signed    6-0 217 - Richmond D5) Oakland Game Note -  Ten carries for 52 yards...Three straight runs in 2H led to a 13-yard score...Figures to be our #2 RB (with JJ being more of a role player)...KC Game Note - Solid game. Dove for the pylon and scored a touchdown...NO Game Note - Meet your new #2 RB (in our opinion). Ran tough, quick, low and decisive inside the tackles, made terrific north-south one-cuts and bounced it outside to score from the one. Scored 5-yard TD in Red White scrimmage.

33 Steve Baylark RB

(6-0, 225) - UMass UDFA) Cut 8/30 Oakland Game Note -  Nothing of note - probably duking it out with Vincent for a final RB spot. (Or both could be in jeopardy of being released)...KC Game Note - Saw some action - nothing stood out.
30 Chris Vincent 6-1 224 Oregon (FA) Cut 8/30. Oakland Game Note -  Showed some outside pizzazz, but tended to run a bit high hitting the inside hole. if we keep a 4th RB, it figures to be between Vincent and Baylark...Released to make room for DRC but then re-signed before Raider game.
31 Marcel Shipp RB, 5-11, 222, Massachusetts Released 8/4. Should Breaston go down he's said to be next in line to return punts.
34 Dionte Johnson FB 6-0 238 Ohio State (UDFA)

Received injury waiver. Hurt. Wearing a boot.

Wide Receivers:
11 Larry Fitzgerald (D1) 6–3 225, Pitt (D1) Oakland Game Note -  Just one catch for one yard...KC Game Note - Made a number of pretty catches in true Fitz fashion...Made patented leaping stayed-in-bounds catch in Red White scrimmage...sUncharacteristically dropped a pass in drills
81 Anquan Boldin WR (D2) 6-0½ 216 Florida St Oakland Game Note -  Saw some 1H action but did windup with 3 catches for 54 yards... Still publicly expressing discontent over no contract extension. KC Game Note - Saw limited action coming off injury  and looked a bit rusty...Returned to practice sidelines but won't play vs. NO. MRI on hammy proved to be OK. Listed as day to day...Sidelined since first week of camp. Went public in contract-extension dispute;stating that he will not re-sign with the team after his contract ends in 2010.
15 Steve Breaston (KR/PR) 6-0 193 Michigan (D5) Oakland Game Note -  Was thrown to a couple of times but no catches...Nice wall-off block to enable JJ to complete the final 15 yards of his TD run...KC Game Note - Continued to make a strong case to be #3 - caught tough passes, grabbed a TD pass. Blocked well on running plays. Showed RAC elusiveness and quicks....NO Game Note - Definitely in contention for #3 WR. Pretty catch and RAC on left to right shallow drag rout.
87 Sean Morey (KR) 5-11 200 Brown (Steelers) Oakland Game Note - Didn't notice...Initially lining up with the second team but in a rotation
85 Jerheme Urban (KR) 6-3 212 Trinity (Wv Steelers) Oakland Game Note - One nice grab for 22 yards...KC Game Note - One nice sideline catch. Almost got broken in half trying to grab a wild high throw... NO Game Note - Made at least one nifty grab we saw.

80 Early Doucet WR  Signed

(5-10, 183) - LSU (D3) Oakland Game Note -  Saw action foir the first time this preseason but only was thrown to a few times - caught one for 7 yards...Won't play vs. NO. Injured hammy. Prognosis better than first thought...We're not the only ones who've compared Doucet to "Superman" (aka Anquan Boldin)
86 Ahmad Merritt 5-10 195 FA (Dallas, Chi) Released after KC game.

10 Jamaica Rector WR

(5-10, 183) - NW Missouri FA Cut 8/30 Oakland Game Note -  No catches...KC Game Note - Dropped a catchable ball early in game...NO Game Note - Caught some. Didn't catch some - but mainly due to miscommunication with backup QB's.
18 Jamalle Cornelius WR 5-11 185 Florida (FA) Released 8/26...Oakland Game Note -  Caught one for +12 yards...Boldin working with him

19 Lance Long WR

(5-11 186) Mississippi St (UDFA) Re-signed to PS - Cut 8/30. Oakland Game Note -  Finally got some playing time - had a few balls thrown to him but had only one low grab for 18 yards...TV guys still report the coaches are talking about him (though he is competing in a heavy talented crowd...Continues to catch nearly everything in sight...Flashing a lot of early production, but competing in a crowded pack. Caught coaches' eye with catch of long bomb.
Tight Ends:
82 Leonard Pope 6-7 256 Georgia (D3) Oakland Game Note - Penalized once and dropped a catchable high throw, but caught an 18 yard TD pass and threw a couple of key outside run blocks...  KC Game Note - Don't recall seeing him...NO Game Note - Flagged for a false start. Yo, Leonard. This sort of stuff is bound to cost you some heavy future money. Pope vs, Patrick arguably the most intense TC battle...Initially lining up with the 2nd unit.
84 Jereme Tuman 6-4 253 (Steelers) Oakland Game Note -  Some nice outside run blocks...KC Game Note - Flagged for holding.
89  Ben Patrick 6-3 252 Delaware (D7) Oakland Game Note -  Did not play...KC Game Note - Got nicked but came back in. But then made a catch and hobbled off the field...NO Game Note - Nice diving catch in 2H. Pope vs, Patrick arguably the most intense TC battle...Initially lining up with 1st unit. There's some buzz that he's a comer this year.
83 Brent Miller 6-5 237 ASU (FA) Cut 8/30. Picked up 7/29 to replace Bienemann
83 Troy Bienemann 6-5 242 Wash. St (FA Carolina) Waived 7/29. . Toe bordering on stress fracture. But not on PUP
Offensive Linemen:
69 Mike Gandy T-G 6-4 310 lb Virginia
74 Reggie Wells OT (D6a)  6-3¾, 302 Clarion
63 Lyle Sendlein C (6-2, 305) -Texas (UDFA) KC Game Note - Saved a turnover by jumping on a fumble. Could be our starting center (depending on how Johnson's knee comes around)
76 Taitusi (Deuce) Lutui G/T 6-4 350 USC (D2) Oakland Game Note - Blew at least one blocking assignment...Still being pushed by E Brown...Singled out by Wiz for lack of consistency. Faces challenge from Elton Brown. Constantly abused by a variety of pass rushers in early drills...facing challenge from E Brown.
75 Levi Brown OT 6-5 323 lb Penn. St. (D! 2007)
50 Al Johnson C 6-5 311 lb Wisconsin (FA Dallas) Still out for Raider game. Had his knee "cleaned out" and will be out til at least the beginning of regular season, It had been acting up (needing draining).
61 Elton Brown G 6-4¾ 330 lb Virginia Oakland Game Note - Still pushing Deuce...KC Game Note - Not one of his best appearances...Pushing Lutui....2nd unit guard
72 Brandon Keith OG/OT  Signed   6-5 345 lb No. Iowa (D7) Oakland Game Note -  On JJ's touchdown run, he put a Raider defender on his backside...KC Game Note -Brief appearance - still receiving raves from (Cardinal and opposing) coaches. But we haven't had much opportunity to actually see him in action - for now it's all hearsay...NO Game Note -According to Wolfley - despite moving to a new position (RG) he displayed very good feet and rattled a few enemy bones while in there. Wiz cautiously optimistic (likes his quick feet). Cards had him shed 25 lbs when he first came in. Opening at RT, but Wiz sees potential as swing G-T
68 Elliot Vallejo OT 6-7, 315) Cal Davis (UDFA) Oakland Game Note -  Favorable comments by TV guys and coaches...KC Game Note - Saw plenty of action...2nd unit tackle
70 Pat Ross C 6-3 300 Boston College (Wv Caro) Re-signed to PS. Cut 8/30Oakland Game Note -  We saw him making key block 25 yards downfield during JJ's long TD run...KC Game Note - We think we saw him lining up a bit at guard...NO Game Note - Did pretty well in backup role considering brief time he's been here. Picked up on waivers from Carolina. Had stints with Seattle and NE. Entered league as an UDFA in 2006.
64Scott Peters C 6-3 312 Arizona St. (FA) Injured knee 7/31 Placed on IR.  2nd unit tackle.
79 Jaspar Harvey G-C 6-3 305 lb SD State Cut 8/30. Added 8/4 to provide depth at G
65 Kelly Butler 6-7 320 Purdue (FA) Cut 8/30. KC Game Note - Got beat at least once. Adds veteran experience. Drafted in 6th round in 2005 and started all 16 games for Lions in 2006 and 6 games for the Browns in 2006 but nothing after that.
60 Peter Clifford 6-7 312 Michigan St  (UDFA) Cut 8/30. 2nd unit tackle
65 Thaddeus Coleman 6-8 308 Mississippi Valley St. Decleated Tavarous Bain who was coming on a blitz in Wed. night drill.
67 Hercules Satele OG - OG 6-2 308 Hawaii (UDFA) Released 8/26...He can also play center.
66 Carlton Medder OG 6-5 319 Florida (UDFA) .Cut 8/30. Fractured his elbow.
Defensive Linemen:
90 Darnell Dockett UT/DE  6-3 292 Florida State (D3) Oakland Game Note - Terrific game was marred only by dumb roughness penalty in 1H...KC Game Note - Did not play...NO Game Note - Blew up at least one offensive play. Flagged for roughness (Cmon!) Showing Intensity. Continues to abuse Lutui in drills.
94 Antonio Smith  DE  6-3 274 Oklahoma State (D5) Oakland Game Note - Would have had pretty good game had it not been for 2 boneheaded encroachment flags...KC Game Note - Had solid (but unspectacular) outing...NO Game Note - Missed tackle of Bush in backfield that turned into a long gain. Flagged for encroachment. (Earthj to #94 - A lot of young talented newcomers are out for your job. False start penalties aren't helpful). SMP (Supremely Motivated Player)
98 Gabe Watson NT 6-3 341 Michigan (D4) On PUP list recovering from "treadmill knee." Doing drills with teammates when they don't involve use of his legs.
90 Bertrand Berry DE/PLB 6-3 250 Notre Dame (FA) Oakland Game Note -  Part of a 3-man sack...Battling LaBoy for starting Predator LB spot.
78 Alan Branch 6-6 331 lb Michigan (D2 2007) Oakland Game Note -  We saw him in the 2H but didn't notice anything special  except that the defense continued to perform well overall while he was in there...KC Game Note - Got pushed around in 1H but batted down a pass in the 2H. We think his problems have more to do with technique than motor - i.e. zone blockers turn him and put him on roller skates when he charges too high, deserts his gap or over-pursues...NO Game Note -Mixed reviews - He didn't show much when you watched on TV and NO RB's ate us up inside in the 2H (It had to either be due to Alan or ILB's Alan was protecting). But Wolfley singled him out for praise late in the 1H and early in the 2H, observing that "once he starts using his hands more effectively, he's gonna be a beast."
97 Bryan Robinson (FA) 6-3 304, Fresno St

Oakland Game Note -  Nice run stop early in game...KC Game Note - Not a beast, but solid - Knows how to play the NT position. Lining up ahead of injured Watson and also Branch on 1st unit.

93 Calais Campbell (D2) Signed 6-8 283, Miami (FL)

Oakland Game Note -  We saw at least one nice run stop plus a pretty special teams tackle...KC Game Note - Started in place of the injured Dockett and provided some push and penetration inside. Also got flagged for jumping the snap...NO Game Note - When you read the game replays and play by play logs, it's as if he never existed. But when you watch footage and listen to the radio call, Campbell impressed enough for us to consider him a contender for a starting spot before the season is out - at least as a run stopping DE in a traditional 3-4. He made plays, was in on the 2H goal line stand, pursued 35 yards downfield on one play and (as Wolf put it) has a non-stop motor.

91 Ken Iwebema (D4) Signed 6-4 269, Iowa

Oakland Game Note -  Was in there, but we didn't note anything special...KC Game Note - Didn't flash as much as he did a week earlier, but did alreigh...NO Game Note -Picked up a sack. In for at least one key stop defending the run.

91 Rodney Bailey DE (FA Steelers) 6-3 305 Ohio State)

.Cut 8/30

71 Joe Tafoya DE (FA Seattle) 6-4 265 U of Arizona

Cut 8/30. Oakland Game Note -  Same as KC game - we didn't see anything special, but the defense continued to play at a high level when he and other backups were in there...KC Game Note - "Steady Eddie" - On talent alone, he woudn't make the 53 man roster; but he'll make a key hit, avoid mistakes and save you a touchdown...Successful teams need a couple of guys like that...NO Game Note -Steady Eddie - flies below the radar and always seems to pick up a 2H sack (as he did Thursday)

62 Jason Banks DE 6-5 300 Grambling (UDFA)

Re-signed to PS - Cut 8/30

73 Keilen Dykes DT 6-3 294 West Virginia (UDFA)

Re-signed to PS - Cut 8/30. NO Game Note - Not only did he play - he recovered a fumble on a muffed snap.

71 Bryan Robinson (UDFA)) 6-3 297 Wesley College(UDFA)

Released 8/26...NO Game Note - A couple of nice hustling plays.

Linebackers:
56 Chike Okeafor DE 6-4 265 Purdue (FA) Oakland Game Note -  Either appeared briefly or not at all (credited with no tackles)...KC Game Note - Made his share of plays...NO Game Note - Started off like a house-afire. Very intense - had to be toned down by coaches
58 Karlos Dansby 6-3, 251, Auburn (D2) Oakland Game - Huge game including one pick...KC Game Note - Seemed to us that part of our run defense problems had to do with poor gap discipline - our LB's were frequently caught out of position....NO Game Note - Looked good while in there, but Reggie Bush was able to outrun him to the corner (no surprise considering it was Reggie). SMP (Supremely Motivated Player)
54 Gerald Hayes MLB 6-1, 239, Pitt (D3) Oakland Game Note -  Several key run stops...KC Game Note - See Dansby - When RB's are picking up yardage in chunks of 10 or more yards, your LB's can't get off Scot free regardless of the actual reason...NO Game Note - Typical solid play. Proving to be one of our most consistent defenders.
55 Travis LaBoy DE/OLB 6-3 260 (Titans Oakland Game Note -  No sacks but at least a couple of pressures...KC Game Note - Star of the Game - 2 sacks, a couple of key stops, all over the field.
53 Scott Haggans DE/OLB 6-4 243 (Steelers) Oakland Game Note -  Aside from one encroachment penalty, he played his most impactful game to date...KC Game Note - Appeared and had solid outing...Sat out 7/31 with groin and listed as "day to day."
52 Monte Beisel 6-3 240 Kansas St Oakland Game Note - Returned from PUP list. Credited with one tackle and a sack...
95 Ali Highsmith (UDFA) 6-0 221 LSU Oakland Game Note -  Didn't see him - no tackles credited - not sure if he even played...KC Game Note - Again made his presence felt in pass coverage, special team play and against the run. Forget the lack of size, he's the kind of guy likely to win one or two games for you each season...NO Game Note - Led the team in tackles with 6 unassisted. Plays stout and hits hard for a smallish guy. Part of the 2H goal line stand.
43 Eduardo Castaneda (FUDFA) 6-3 253 LSU Monterray Tech Assigned to PS - International roster exempt player
51 Matt Stewart OLB 6-3 239 (Browns) Cut 8/30. Oakland Game Note - Shared one sack with 2 others...
59 Chris Harrington (D5) Signed Cut 8/30. 6-4 265, Texas A&M

Oakland Game Note -  One tackle of note...Card coaches are happy with his progress, but he has an uphill battle in crowded environment. Could wind up on PS. KC Game Note - Stopped a returner dead in his tracks on special teams.

57 Brandon Moore LB 6-1, 240 - Oklahoma (FA7) Cut 8/30. Oakland Game Note -  Saw some action late in game...KC Game Note -Played. Nothing special stood out...8/13 - Picked up from SF (where he was released to make room for Takeo Spikes). At SF, he played under coach Billy Davis (now with Cards). Under Davis, he had his best season in 2006 with 92 tackles and 6½ sacks. Last season, Moore fell out of favor in SF,  lost his starting job and had just 22 tackles and 2½ sacks.
57 David Holloway LB (6-2, 230) - Maryland (UDFA) 8/13 - Released to make room for Moore. NO Game Note - Made a couple of nice plays - in on the 2H goal line stand. This looks like a matter of too many qualified players for too few open positions.
Defensive Backs:
25 Eric Green (CB) 5-11 198 (4.52) Virginia Tech Oakland Game Note -  Blew outside zone coverage early in game. Wound up with one tackle....KC Game Note - 2 gaffes won't show up in stats: (1) he dropped a sure pick and (2) was clearly beaten on a long incompletion...Out a couple of days (personal stuff) but is now back...SMP (Supremely Motivated Player). Cut his long hair off. Had a strong opening practice.
24 Adrian Wilson S 6-2¼ 213 (D3) Oakland Game Note -  Huge game. Three tackles and one assist - every one of those hits were decleators...KC Game Note -Appeared early, made his presence felt and then spent the rest of the game on the sidelines...NO Game Note - Made his brief presence felt with a thundering hit early in the 1Q. SMP (Supremely Motivated Player)
21 Antrel Rolle CB "The" U" Oakland Game Note -  Did not play...KC Game Note - Did not play...NO Game Note - We expected more, given those exciting pick returns a year ago. Didn't do badly; just didn't do anything great either.
26 Roderick Hood (CB) 5-11 196 Auburn (FA Eagles) Oakland Game Note -  Solid game in coverage...KC Game Note - Played. Nothing notable...Sidelined with bad foot that bears watching. Won't play vs. NO
29 Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Signed 6015 185 Tenn. St. (D1) Oakland Game Note -  Credited with 2 tackles - at least one of the two a thumper...KC Game Note -Credited for one nice solo tackle in the flat....NO Game Note - Came in as a backup & wasn't all that visible - that is until he cold-cocked the NO tight end (Campbell) with a decleater. Guess that answers questions about his willingness to mix it up. Has been making plays in drills....Looked so quick and fast playing "receiver role" in 2 on one drills that Calvisi and Urban wondered out loud whether they might want to try him in a 2-way (DB/WR) role. Signed and will start off behind E Green on the depth chart (for now).
35 Oliver Celestin S 6-5 207)  Texas Southern FA Oakland Game Note -  At least one yardage-saving stop.....NO Game Note - Didn't look that nifty as a tadker.
47 Aaron Francisco (S) 6-2 211 (4.740 BYU Oakland Game Note -  Saw action - nothing great, but no gaffes either..KC Game Note - Nothing of note. May have lost his #2 FS job to Ware...NO Game Note - Had a really bad outing - got beat deep playing in a 4 corners zone package (a no-no), was a half step late in coverage on the first NO touchdown reception and generally was uninstinctive and late to the ball.
20 Ralph Brown CB (FA Cleve) 5-10 185 Nebraska Oakland Game Note -  Saw some action and did OK.....2nd unit corner for now
22 Matt Ware S 6-0 210  UCLA Oakland Game Note -  DNP...KC Game Note - Started at FS -nothing special.
27 Michael Adams CB 5-8, 178) - Louisiana-Lafayette Re-signed to PS - Cut 8/30. Oakland Game Note -  Credited with 2 unassisted tackles - both of which were noticeably nice...KC Game Note - Decent game in coverage, but almost let a towering Colquitt punt bounce up and hit him...NO Game Note - Missed tackle on Meacham 60 yard TD scamper.
38 Dennis Keyes FS 6-2 199 UCLA (UDFA) Cut 8/30.KC Game Note - Picked off a pass and outran everybody for an 86 yard score. (Not bad for a guy who supposedly could run no faster than a 4.6). NO Game Note - Said to be one of three DB's who  missed tackle on Meacham 60 yard TD scamper, but we think the culprit was actually Celestin
41 Travarous Bain  CB 6-0 182 Hampton (FA) Cut 8/30. KC Game Note - Always around the ball, but seldom making the plays he has to make - inherent problem? Or can he be coached up? NO Game Note -3rd DB who missed tackle on Meacham 60 yard TD scamper.
23 DeMario Minter CB 5-11 Georgia (FA)  Cut 8/30
36 Marcus Brown CB 6-2 200 McNeese St. Released 8/26...Sidelined (Hammy)
40 Pat Tillman,   (S) 5-10½ 208 (3) ASU While Pat  was serving his country, we promised  we'd "keep the seat warm" for him with a roster spot here on the BRS.  He will remain a permanent fixture here - as he will in our hearts.
