2010 Draft
SECOND 2010 BRS MOCK DRAFT
Last Updated: April 17

The first round of draft publications hit the newsstands - along with a number of mock drafts. It's interesting to compare these mocks - where they agree and where they differ.

They're not without their pitfalls (you can get sucked into accepting the conventional wisdom and herd mentality of the the draft-guru community which, in turn can lead you down blind alleys). And early print-deadlines mean early mocks (which can become quickly stale as new events unfold (i.e. an injury, a trade, a Pro Day). But - because many writers (who are friendly with a particular team or scout) have access to inside information - the trend matching a particular player to a specific team can have some merit.

Comparing mocks can also be helpful toward determining which players are most or least likely to still be on the Cardinals board when we pick at #26.

I compared 11 mocks (from 4 draft publications) but, to save space, have consolidated the info to show the players most frequently projected for each team/pick and - based on that info - who'd logically be picked at each spot. Where it gets a bit dicey is where there is little if any concensus on a specific player - especially near the end of the first round.

Of particular interest were the number of mocks matching Haden with Cleveland, Campbell with Oakland, Bryant with Denver, A Davis with Buffalo, McClain with Miami, Price with the Giants and Gresham with the Cardinals.

I took poetic license with Gresham and the Cardinals. I don't think we'll draft him - there are recent reports that raise concerns about his knee not healing satisfactorily.  I took the liberty instead of following the local CW and picked a pass rusher - either Hughes or Pierre-Paul (who, the way this mock unfolds is one of those guys who fell thru the cracks to #26).
