2015 Draft
Wide Receiver
This page will be a work in progress and updated frequently. Come back often and watch it develop.

1 Kevin White WR x West Virginia 4.35 6030 215 1st

Tall feature-type WR. ("KW is a man" - NFC North scout). Makes everything look easy...NFL-frame...ourtstanding reflexes and leaping ability...eilite at high-pointing and catching away from his body...but not a burner/lacks suddenness...compared to Larry Fitzgerald.

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...stood on his testing numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine, but did participate in drills and had an outstanding workout. He was worked out by Chicago Bears wide receivers coach Mike Groh. The scouts in attendance wanted to see more from White, so they had White do some additional work after his 15-minute session with Groh."

Combine - Arm: 32 5/8; 10-yd: 1.66; BP: 23; VJ: 36.5; BJ: 10-3; 3C: 6.92; 20S: 4.14;)...

2 Amari Cooper WR x Alabama 4.42 6010 211 1st

According to Rang: "...lacks the speed of Sammy Watkins or the size of Mike Evans but there are very few holes in his game and he has a nack for getting open." Excellent quicks and balance. Adept at escaping jam at LOS. Could be more consistent as a pass catcher and will occasionally free-lance his routes.

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...had a 34-inch vertical jump and stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine, where he had the top time among wide receivers in the 20-yard shuttle and was a top performer among receivers in the three-cone drill. Cooper had a great positional workout. He caught the ball really well, displaying excellent hands. Cooper had just one drop, but it came on a low ball. Cooper is going to be a top-five type pick in the 2015 NFL Draft."

Combine - Arm: 31.5; 10-yd: 1.63; VJ: 33.0; BJ: 10-0; 3C: 6.71; 20S: 3.98...

3 Dorial Green-Beckham WR x Oklahoma 4.49 6050 237 1st

Came out of high school with impressive clippings...physically, a beast in terms of size. ("Even when he's covered, he's open.") But unpoished with just average functional strength.

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...stood on his 40-yard dash time from the combine (4.49 seconds). He had a 33-inch vertical and a 10-foot broad jump. He completed the short shuttle in 4.36 seconds. Green-Beckham had a very good workout. He has good ball skills, and for a guy as tall as he is, he runs very good routes. He has a chance to be picked at the end of the first round or top of the second."

Combine - Arm: 32.5; 10-yd: 1.61; VJ: 33.5; BJ: 9-11; 3C: 6.89; 20S: 4.43

6 Devante Parker WR x Louisville 4.45 6030 209 x

Another big wideout (what are they putting into the food these days?) Excellent height, length with room to get stronger...but still needs to add strength. Can be caught from behind. Too often a body snatcher with lapses in concentration. My preliminary take: "If an NFL receivers coach can polish off the rough edges, he could wind up with Superman."

Pro Day (Brandt) - "... stood on his numbers from the combine and had a fabulous workout. He appears to be over the injury that caused him to miss the first half of last season, and his combine and pro-day performances have really helped him a lot. He'll be an early first-round pick."

Combine - Arm: 33.25; 10-yd: 1.56; VJ: 36.5; BJ: 10-5; 3C

10 Tyler Lockett WR x K-State 4.65 5100 182 x

Still another Lockett from K-State: Write-ups bring to mind Paul Warfield (Smaller, quick cutting route-runner with good hands). Lightning fast with or without the ball...sells routes and draws holding penalties...butkind of short and thin framed. The 4.65 combine forty time does not support the claim that he's a blazer

.Pro Day (Brandt) - "...stood on his combine numbers but put in a great workout. He's very fast with excellent quickness, and is also a talented kick returner. I believe he'll be a second-round pick.."

Combine - Arm: 30.0; 10-yd: 1.56; VJ: 35.5; BJ: 10-1; 3C: 6.89; 20S: 4.07

7 Sammie Coates WR x Auburn 4.43 6010 212 1st-2nd

Decent size (though his combiine measurement cliiped an inch off his height). Has been said to run in the 4.3's (but not at the Combine). Strong enough to fight thru press coverage, smooth accelerator...very good ball skills, but not explosive out of his cuts and needs to become more reliable as a pass catcher.

Pro Day (Brandt) -"...stood on his numbers from the combine, where he was a top performer among receivers in bench press, vertical jump, broad jump and 20-yard short shuttle. Coates is a strong guy, and he caught the ball well during the positional workout. The biggest knock on Coates is the dropped passes, but on pass plays of more than 20 yards he caught 10 of 11 passes.

Combine - Arm: 33.4; 10-yd: 1.59; VJ: 41-0; BJ: 10-11; 3C: 6.98; 20S:4.06; 60S: 11.81

5 Phillip Dorsett WR x Miami (FL) 4.33 5100 185 x

Lit up the Combine with a 4.33 forty. Impressed at Senior Bowl with his speed and focus (whatever that means). But undersized and an undisciplined route runner. One-dimensional at this point in his development - relying primarily on elite speed

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...NA

Combine - Arm: 30.25; 10-yd: 1.54; VJ: 37.0; BJ: 10-2; 3C: 6.70; 20S: 4.11

8 Jaelen Strong WR x ASU est. 4.54 6020 217 x

Combine Forty: 4.33. Another size/speed guy...Basketball background. More of a long-strider than explosive wideout. Said to lack top-end speed. Magnet hands. Wins most 50-50 battles. Will misjudge too many deep balls. Compared to Marquis Colston.

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...ran the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.19 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.33 seconds. He stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine in the 40-yard dash (4.44 seconds), broad jump (10 feet, 3 inches) and vertical jump (42 inches, which was second-best among wide receivers at the combine). Strong went through a 56-play scripted positional workout, which was run by San Diego Chargers wide receivers coach Fred Graves. Strong did an exceptional job in the workout, catching everything thrown his way."

Combine - Arm: 32.25; 10-yd: 1.53; VJ: 42-0; BJ: 10-3;

9 Nelson Agholor WR x USC 4.42 6000 198 2nd

Lead-dog receiver who has explosive speed and runs precision routes. But kind of slender. Not thrilled with contact. Will have concentration lapses(double-catches).

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...did a positional workout...that was scripted. "

Combine - Arm: 32.25; 10-yd: 1.53

11 Ty Montgomery WR x Stanford 4.55 6000 221 2nd

Somewhat disappoinring Combine forty might cost him in the draft rankings (but he did better comparatively in the agility drills). Top athlete with solid build and good acceleration, but lacks lateral agility and is kind of north-southish. Somewhat of a body-snatcher.

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...ran the 40 in 4.5 and 4.51 seconds (he ran a 4.55 40 at 221 pounds at the combine). Montgomery stood on his other combine numbers. Montgomery runs good routes and caught the ball well during the pro day. He also did a good job working out as a kick and punt returner."

Combine - Arm: 31.0; 10-yd: 1.62; VJ: 40.5; BJ: 10-1; 3C: 6.97; 20S: 4.21; 60S: 11.57

..

12 Antowan Goodley WR x Baylor 4.44 5100 209 x

"Built like a brick (looks more like a RB than a receiver)." - Rang. Tough guy with good cutting-skills who plays with a great deal of confidence. But played in what Rang terms "a receiver-friendly spread offense" and "will have a steep learning curve in the pros."

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...had a 35-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-9 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.38 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.19 seconds. He also made a spectacular catch during the positional workout."

Combine - Arm: 30.75; 10-yd: 1.53

4 Breshad Perriman WR x Central Florida 4.25 6020 212 x

Dad is Brett Perriman. Prototypical "big WR" size. Will use strength and size to overwhelm smaller CB's. Deceptive stride...but somewhat raw (relied on his size and athletic skills at the college level and will need considerable polishing at the pro level.

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...might not have ascended draft boards as quickly as he ran 40 yards Wednesday, but it might not have taken much longer.

The Central Florida wide receiver's 40-yard dash was clocked at 4.25 seconds by NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock. Other times recorded by NFL scouts on hand ranged between 4.19 and 4.27, according to NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt. Any of those would have been the best overall time at this year's NFL Scouting Combine had he run for the same result in Indianapolis last month. Anything under 4.4 is a stunningly fast clocking for a player of Perriman's size; he is 6-foot-2, 212 pounds.

The fastest 40-yard dash in combine history is 4.24 seconds by Chris Johnson in 2008. As with all official times at the combine, Johnson's 40 was electronically timed. Pro day 40s are timed by hand, which are substantially faster than electronic times.

NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt pegged the son of former Detroit Lions receiver Brett Perriman as a rising prospect about six weeks ago, before the NFL Scouting Combine. Perriman is also tied for fifth in Mayock's ranking of this year's wide receivers.

As it turned out, it might have been a blessing for Perriman that a hamstring injury precluded him from working out at the combine in Indianapolis. Now, his only 40-yard dash showing for NFL scouts is the Wednesday clocking they won't soon forget. So while scouts might choose to rely more heavily on the slower times from Indianapolis by prospects who made vast improvements on their pro days, they won't have any such slower time to fall back on with Perriman.

The deepest position in the 2015 NFL Draft just got a little tighter at the top of the class."

Combine - Arm: 30;

13 Devon Smith WR x Ohio State 4.42 6000 196 x

Lindy's timed him at 4.3, but he wasn't quite that fast in Indy. Runs with quick strides and makes strong cuts. Can separate out of breaks. But downside is questionable and inconsistent tracking and ball skills (termed "frustrating" by Rang).

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...did the three-cone drill in 6.83 seconds and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. Smith had a good workout, but needs to work on how he catches the football. He doesn't catch the ball real well with his hands and has a tendency to trap the ball against his body. Former Ohio State quarterback, and 2006 Heisman Trophy winner, Troy Smith was throwing the ball during the pro-day workout."

Combine - Arm: 31; 10-yd: 1.63; VJ: 39.0; BJ: 10-2; 20S: 4.15

14 Stefon Diggs WR x Maryland 4.46 6000 195 x

Balanced in terms of size, speed and receiving sklls - does a lot of things very well (though nothing that could be considered "outstanding")....at his best on crossing routes (where he can hit the seam full-speed)..but has somewhat slender build, tends to round off routes and can be easily (& visibly) frustrated (hasn't figured out that "you should never let them see you sweat.")... Physical blocker. Concussion and ACL injury witin past two years.

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...NA

Combine - Arm: 31.25; 10-yd: 1.54; VJ: 35.0; BJ: 9-7; 3C: 7.03; 20S: 4.32

15 Jamison Crowder WR x Duke 4.56 5080 185 x

Short and somewhat slenders. Pint-sized technician with flare for the position. won't test well for the position at the Combine but has waterbug skills that could earn him a nice living.

Pro Day (Brandt) - "...ran the 40 in 4.46 and 4.48 seconds. He had a 4.25-second 20-yard short shuttle time and a 6.98-second three-cone drill time. He had a 10-foot-3 broad jump. Crowder is the reason why the special teams and wide receiver coaches were present at Duke's pro day. He showed very good, soft hands when catching punts. He is going to be a special teams player for some team this fall."

Combine - Arm: 30.4; 10-yd: 1.71; VJ: 37.0; BJ: 9-7; 3C: 7.17;; 20S: 4.32
