2015 Draft
UDFA 8. Alan Fua LB BYU

From CBS Sports:
"A prospect of Tongan descent, Fua lined up mostly at strongside linebacker the last two seasons for BYU and did everything on defense from rushing the passer to lining up and covering slot targets. He sucks up tight ends with the size, speed and agility that cannot be coached, using his range to be an excellent pursuit player. Athleticism and talent aren't problems for Fua, but he does need to add technique and discipline to his play style. He needs to get stronger and add bulk, but there are questions about how much muscle mass he can add to his frame. Fua's best fit at the next level will depend on scheme, but he has the versatility to stand out on special teams while he develops into a specific role on defense."

6-5 238... 4.58

Here's what four draft guides have to say:

Pro Football Now (Arkush): #15-ranked OLB...good height and length/room to grow...better pass rusher than numbers suggest...trusted by coaches and used in different ways...awareness in coverage/good position in zone...has strength and power to stack...but not as fast or explosive as you'd like in an edge rusher...one-gear guy without a top burst...lacks top instincts (more of a reactor)...Ideal size and length to play outside in a 3-4...needs to bulk up/should get to 250...could develop into a starter on the strong side.

Lindy's: 6-5 228. "Tweener with some pass rush potential."

Beckett's Draft Guide - Not listed.

Pro Football Draft Guide - Not listed.

Bottom Line: Fua is considered a top UDFA "get" - a raw talent with considerable upside.
