Top cover guy with elite speed, whose tackling skills may be suspect - Gollin
Definition of a press man corner...aggressive in jamming receivers...incredibly fluid hips and tremendous length for position. Uses long arms to keep hand on receiver...routinely bats down passes with ease. 33 total tackles (two interceptions) Alowed less than half of the passes thrown his way to be completed (QBs throwing his way could only achieve a 38.7 rating) into his coverage. Anemic stat line because QBs avoided his side of the field. - Draftek
"... Williams is a long, rangy press corner with outstanding ball skills. He is at his best challenging receivers at the line but displays enough awareness to play effectively in zone coverage. Speed might be a question, but his natural instincts and playmaking ability should make him a solid starter in any system. - B Brooks - Rates #1)
Strengths are height speed and overall athleticism...Good ball skills - one of the best cover corners in college FB...But lean frame, tackling defects and inability to shed blocks will hurt him in the eyes of some pro clubs... - PFW
Exceptional upside warrants Top 15 consideration...But some bust potential here...More of a cover mentality vs. run than some scouts would prefer...exceptional combo of height arm-length and straightline speed...Natural cover corner...Relies too much on natural athleticism and needs to show greater commitment to craft...Comp" Aqib Talib - LIndy's
A dream for teams looking for a long corner but his tackling technique is another matter...Built like a Seattle-type corner - long and lanky...Has deep speed and outstanding ball skills...better lining up in press than in off-coverage...Could be more physical at LOS...Chunky in his backpedal when playing "off."...Big concern is his work in run support...tends to lunge more than wrap up - Athlon
Has the length and ball skills most NFL teams covet but he's not the most physical of corners - USA Today

"... Murphy is a feisty cover corner with a well-rounded game. He's capable of playing nose to nose in man coverage or sitting back and reading route concepts as a zone defender. With the Washington star also showing solid tackling skills on the perimeter, a late rise up the charts is possible before draft day. - B Brooks - (Rates #2)
Productive but small corner...Very quick, sudden and fast with extremely quick feet, loose hips and smooth turn....But very small frame with no bulk...lacs strength...projects to slot in pros - PFW
Makes big plays in big games...Gave up two years of eleigibilty to go pro...Screams Top 20 athlete...Easy accellerator/smooth turn & go transition...Terrific route-awareness....Can break downhill on comebacks and quick outs...Good hands, hand-eye coordination and body control...Tracks well..Playmaker mentaliy...Check out recovery from broken foot...Comp: Denzel Ward... - Lindy's
Quick, fluid and exceptionally instinctive...a ball-hawking corner...experience in the slot but played mostly outside...can simultaneously read routes and the QB...quick and fluid...undersized but packs some pop...long speed is middling...Comp: Marcus Peters...Probably fits best as a boundary corner - Athlon

One of my biases is favoring CB's who can tackle. This may be an issue with Mullen - Lindy's
"... Mullen is a junkyard dog on the island with an aggressive game that is ideally suited for teams employing a lot of press coverage. He consistently knocks receivers around at the line and maintains good positioning throughout the route. As a solid tackler with a bit of a nasty streak, Mullen is the kind of player most defensive coordinators covet on the perimeter.- B Brooks - Rates #4)
On the upswing...Tall corner with long arms...Very good in run support...turns quickly with quick feet...Gets a littlle tall in his pedal...Currently projected to go in 2nd round, but how he tests will determine how high he goes - PFW
Defensive MVP in title game...Projects to Top 50 ranking...Prototypical frame for a CB...Low, tight backpedal with swivel hips/notable acceleration and COD traits...Appears to relish the challenge of one-on-one matchups in coverage...Can get verry handsy downfield...Far too willing to let his teammates do the dirty work in run support...Average tackler - LIndy's
Long, physical press corner with too few interceptions on his resume; but the ballhawking threat he presents is there...Tall with long arms...enough twitch and COD skill to mirror underneath...Low pick rate may be function of QB's not throwing in his direction...Some unanswered questions; namely: Is his success more a function of the play of his supporting cast (i.e. did he look good because opposing QB's were constantly under pressure by Clemson pass rushers)?...Long speed is average...COD can be an issue...Ceiling is indisputably high thans to his size and speed....a boundary corner who can win early in the down - Athlon

Day 3 prospect unless he tests off the charts...Good size and length...Impressive ball skills...Stays low in pedal...Steady player but not that aggressive...Must add strength and bulk - PFW
Size, agility and maturity his strong points...You'd wish he was more physical...Light feet and fluid turn...Poised with ball in the air...Doesn't give up on play...No coward - willing to take out the Knees of pulling guarrds....Reliable wrap up tackler...But not an intimidating striker...Best suited to a man scheme...Comp: Prince Amukamara - Lindy's
Has the length NFL teams are looking for...and knows how to use it....Excellent ball skills (tracking, location, high-pointing)...some good skills in off-coverage as well...Has trouble with COD and balance...srtruggles mirroring to quickness....big but not enormous/physical but not overpowering...Solid ("safer") prospect - Athlon

"... - B Brooks - Rates # 3 without commentary)
Very physical ("as physical a college corner as you'll ever find)...excellent in run support...Quick feet and turn...but not as tall as some clubs prefer...Smart...Has skill set to play right away..Fast and sudden but not the fastest corner....How he tests may determine how high he goes - PFW
Highly competitive mentality...battle-tested...Has enough athletiism and awareness to succeed in bump and off-man...but projects best to zone scheme....slightly smaller than you'd like but has compact frame...Has enough agiity abnd acceeration to handle man coverage and experience to undercut routes...Seems to enjoy man to man showdowns...Zero hesitation taking on bigger ballcarriers...May be better FB player than athlete...Instincts may make him faster than his (average) timed speed...Good but not great hands...Is his decent speed "manufactured?"...Comp: Josh Norman - Lindy's...
Can get knocked for lack of size, but is extremey physical and competitive at the LOS...Best lining up under the receiver's chin-strap...Competitiveness shows up in run support...one of the best in the cerebral apsects of the game...Some stiffness in hips...will occasionally get run-by...good but not great long speed...Instincts give him a relatively high floor...Susceptibility to big play an issue...Future may be in slot or in Cover 2 - Athlon

Scout: "I shy away from non-physical cover guys"...Good CB size...Has the feet, hips and suddenness of an NFL cornerback...Has cover skills but is not a physical run support player...Very consistent zone corner but more of a grab tackler than a hit-and-wrap guy...
50 games in college may make him readier to make an immediate impact as a pro...Quick, physical, best suited for zone scheme...an inch or two shorter than desired...Highly aggressive phsical hitter...will guess on route anticipation...Some stiffness...lacks elite recovery speed...Verfy competitive on jump balls (but loses half those battles) - Lindy's
Aggressive and fluid corner who plays bigger than his size...will get up on receivers in press coverage...flips his hips and mirrors effectively ...extremely competitive overall...very aggressive in run support...one of this class's best tacklers in space...Neither tall or long-armed...Transistion is unbalanced and clunky...long speed is middling and lack of length will provide most QB's with additional margin for error...Tough to see how his game will translate to next level - Athlon

Athlon's comment on his questionable long speed is addressed by his 4.45 combine forty - Gollin
Excellent CB size and llength...Physical press player...Few corners in this class are as physical and dependible in run support as Jackson...Reacts very well to ball in the air...But less effective in zone...zero interceptions...Must run well to protect his draft rating - PFW
Dropoff in prodiuction in final college year may test the theory that "spending that extra year in college can't hurt your draft status"...Looks the part of an NFL press corner...Good awareness in zone coverage of underneath routes...Intriguing timeing and determination as a blitzer...Lacks the footwork to go hip-to-hip with smaller, faster receivers...Solid tackler for a CB but may not possess the consistent strike zone or aggression to make a switch to safety - Lindy's
Big physical corner...aggressive at LOS...Good breaking down and making tackles in space and filling hard in run support...Long speed is a question...Will struggle with quickness underneath...Does well facing his opponent...may be best suited for a zone-heavy scheme - Athlon

(PFW ranks #20)...Strong points are size and strength...less comfortable in zone or "off"as he is in press...Takes extra steps in transition...Gives too much curhion - PFW

Has it all, but "speed is all he needs" - Good size/long arms...equally proficient in zone or man...Good instincts...quick feet...understands the nuances...but if he doesn't time well, he'll probably be underdrafted - PFW
Lacks eye-popping size/speed combo...Earned a 2nd round grade from NFL Advisory Committee...Shorter than preferred...quick to vacate primary responsibility to pursue the ball...Good patience in coversge...Better FB player than athlete...High in his backpedal/loses a step in transition - Lindy's
Had as good a year as any CB in college football...fluid mover...Outstanding instincts...Recoovery speed a potential issue...Laxk of speed combined with his lack of length may give him problems paying the boundary....Football character is outstanding...has physical skills to play 3rd corner...Comp: Kareem Jackson - Athlon

Rare height for the position...Trusts his eyes...attacks downfield & closes with explosion...If he had more reliable hands, he'd still be playing receiver...Size, athleticism and toughness indicate a bright future as a pro...questionable ball skills...while more agile than most DB's his size, he can struggle vs. smaller, quicker receivers - Lindy's
Converted wideout who is still learning the position...Middling long speed but long arms will have to help him cover downfield...Could be more physical...will swipe at ball carrier's ankles rather than wrap up - Athlon

.Adequate height, but strong arms allow him to play taller...Quick and sudden with good speed and smooth hips...Stays lowin pedal...Plays mainly off-man...Reacts well to ball in air...Not good in run support...Must get stronger - PFW
Yoked up corner who plays a physical brand of football...Rocked up frame (a product of lots of weight room work)...Aggressive with ball in air...3 years at Presbyterian College / moved to Temple when Presbyterian gave up FB...Earned a single-digit jersey number from Temple coaches in just one year...High-cut and narrow-hipped...Needs to do a better job of turning PBU's into INTs....Too quick to open his hips and turn and run with speedier WRs - Lindys
Has good size and is a fluid mover with loose hips to transition and quick feet to mirror....at his best playing in off-coverage...can get physical at LOS...solid size and speed...tracks well...very good in run support...better at the boundary than inside...seems to get antsy vs. quicker receivers...lacks elite size/speed...Scheme-versatile with high FB character - Athlon
Awarded single jersey number by Temple coaches for "toughest player on the team...39.5" VJ...Dominated at Presbyterian and more than held his own at Temple - USA Today |
