Inside Linebacker DataBase
2 Mack Wilson - x Alabama   6011 240 x

"Steady Eddie" type...Good size and very long arms...Plays with strength and power...quick in pass drops...aware in zone coverage...Good but not great run defender...Not as physical as recent Ala linebackers...More a reactor than an anticipator...Doesn't bow up his opponents...Best suited for 3-4 - PFW

" ... - B Brooks (Rates #3 without commentary)

Five-star HS recruit who left school early as a Junior...very little footage to go on...Just scratching the surface of his potential...rocked-up upper body...Easy athleticism and terrific initial quickness..Impressive power with little runway...Good awareness in pass coverage ("reads the QB's eyes")....Tough (played thru fooot fracture)....Not yet the sum of his parts...needs a lot of work on tackling technique. Comp: Alec Ogletree - Lindy's

3-down LB with potential to be a star...Solidly built, twitched-up and fluid ILB with exceptional sideline to sideline range...quick to diagnose, read and react...Excellent in coverage...a bit too up & down than you'd like to see...misses too many tackles....Excellent in coverage...will get too aggressive at times...There are still a few things neding to be cleaned up. - Athlon

Lined up at H-Back...#3 ILB at a position where there's a sharp drop off in talent after #2 - USA Today

Forty: DNP...Ten: DNP...BP: DNP:..3C DNP: VJ:32.0...BJ: 9'9...Hand: 9.2...Arm: 32.4

1 Devin White - x Louisiana State   6000 237 x

"Total package who should start on Day one and never come off the field" ... Top instincts and reactions...All the necessary traits to be a star at thenext level...Tough smart, and instinctive playmaker,.vs. run and pass - PFW

Arguably the top LB in college during past two seasons...Pillar on and off the field...Coaches love him...voted "permanent team captain'...Built like a Sherman tank (compact, powerful frqme)...Sideline to sideline speed...Tough...Excellent diagnosis skills enable him to play faster than his timed speed...True thumper/eye-popping collisions...Improved awareness and timing in coverage...Just average arm length...Comp: Eric Kendricks - Lindy's...

White is an A-plus athlete with exceptional instincts and awareness. He flows to the ball quickly as a sideline-to-sideline pursuer, exhibiting a non-stop motor and relentless competitive spirit. With the LSU standout also looking like a heat-seeking missile on blitzes, coaches and scouts could view him as the No. 1 overall player in the draft by the end of the process. - B Brooks (Rates #1)

Prototypical LB for the modern NFL...Physical traits are outstanding....Explosive athlete and fluid mover...an absolute burner going from sideline to sideline...loose-hips allow him to turn and go like a safety....eats up groind and closes fast on the QB...High character leader...becoming more instinctive...Read & react skill is one-notch below elite...Comp: Rohan Smith (White is probably a little kless instinctive but a better physical specima)n - Athlon

Lacks optimal size for the posiition...But with 4.42 forty speed and a developing football mind, he should become a 3-down starter with a sideline to sideline presence - USA Today

Forty: 4.42...Ten: DNP...BP: 22...3C: 7.07...VJ: 39.5...BJ: 9'10 ...Hand: 9.8...Arm: 32.1

4 David Long Jr. - x West Virginia   5112 227 x

Buzzbomb type - 5-11 guy who whizzes around the field hitting anything in sight. There are always a few guys like that who make their mark in the NFL usually in customized positions (i.e. Tyrann Mathieu or Deone Bucannon)- Gollin

(PFW rates #18 LB)...Tough...instinctive...playshard every snap...Small/plays small (30.8" arms)...Actual production doesn't match up with impressive stats...struggles to shed blocks...Not much more than a ST specialist - PFW

Not for the faint of heart due to diminuative size...Heat-seeking missile...Makes up for lack of height & size with aggression and physicality...Trusts eyes...Impressive closing speed and and accuracy...May be better suited as a safety - Lindy's

Always around the football/A tackling machine...made a ton of plays in the backfield...great anticpation when shooting gaps...one of the best pure tacklers in this class despiite lack of size...arrives before block does but this involves a degree of risk...Speed is middling/could be mismatched with some TE's...Productive but may have a limited ceiling - Athlon

Forty: DNP...Ten: DNP...BP:18 ...3C: DNP...VJ: DNP...BJ: DNP...Hand: 10.0...Arm: 30.8

3 Devin Bush Jr. - x Michigan   5110 234 x

Top competitor with outstanding instincts...Gets to ball quickly...Small but plays big...Always on the move, flying to the ball...Excellent tackling ability...will blow up ball-carriers ...Short...Lacks ideal speed...Can play either inside LB in 3-4 but not ideal fit for any scheme...Coaches want winners like him on their teams - PFW

" ... Bush is a little undersized, but he's a terrific playmaker as a sideline-to-sideline chaser. He displays outstanding instincts and awareness and flashes an electric closing burst getting to the ball. - B Brooks (Rates # 2)

Similar in size to David Long Jr but still has the stocky frame of a classic ILB...Production fell off in 2018 (due to injuries or supporting cast)?...Exciting talent with combo of speed and physicality...Gambling style can lead to big plays...Sideline to sidline speed....Highly physical hitter (Good bloodlines - Devin Bush Sr)...Comp: Myles Jack - Lindy's

Twitchy, physical and the most instinctive LB in this year's class...Undersized but exceedingly physical...He can run / excellent in zone coverage...But often will give up 5 or 6 inches in height when running in coverage...Can QB a defense for the next decade...Doesn't have quite the same ceiling as Devin White but makes a nice consolation prize - Athlon

Another athlete with blazing (4.43) speed for the position...might slip slightly because of his lack of size - USA Today

DNP...BP: 21...3C: 6.93...VJ: 40.5...BJ: 10'4...Hand: 9.6...Arm: 32.0

6 T.J. Edwards - x Wisconsin   6003 230 x

Strong with thick frame...Throwback defender with size, strength and between the tackles ruggedness...Scout likes everything except his lack of speed...Combine results will be key to where he's drafted - PFW

Makes up for lack of athleticism with consistency and sound techniques..."Country strong" (Lindy''s scout has fallen in love with that term)...One speed runner who lacks explosion...Makes up for it with excellent key and diagnosis skills - Lindy's

Heady, instinctive and tough MLB...Downhill gap filler vs. run and anchor of Wisc defense...Not quite NFL caliber movement skills/ more a straight line mover...Will have trouble running with TE's and RB's in coverage...Lacks ideal sideline to sideline range...Best fit is ILB in a 3-4 but he'll be the guy teams will go after in the passing game when he's on the field - Athlon

Forty: DNP...Ten: DNP...BP: 16...3C: DNP...VJ: DNP...BJ: DNP...Hand: 9.4...Arm: 31.2

5 Vosean Joseph - x Florida   6014 230 x

Very instinctive and quick-reacting playmaker...Good hitter...Will "play possum"...Marginal size...Scout likes his instinctiveness, top athletiism and speed....Finds ball in a hurry and then seals the deal....Best suited to play 4-3 WILL... - PFW...

Multi-purpose weapon..."Young mustang who needs to be reined in a bit"...Instincts, ability and speed are strong points...Very good lateral agility...Long arms/good hand-to-eye coordination...Narrow shoulders and frame...relies on inititial burst...Highly aggressive in run support...Lets his emotions get the best of him... Comp: Marc Barron - Lindy's

Undersized but explosive...Suddenness and relentless effort allows him to play much bigger than than his size...has an attacking style/diagnoses quickly and arrives at the ball with violence ahead of time...Very good blitzer...but aggressiveness borders on out-of-control/he'll take the occasional false step...A little rough around the edges but is an instinctive, athletic, aggressive LB who could be a 4-3 WILL or even play inside despite his lack of size - Athlon

The knock on Joseph is that he'll disappear at times. but, at his best, he's explosive and quick enough to collect plenty of tackles - USA Today

Forty: DNP...Ten:. DNP...BP: DNP...3C: DNP...VJ: DNP...BJ: DNP...Hand:9.6...Arm: 31.4

Big time plymaker and sack artist at a lower level...Plays with strength, power and explosion...tough to block one-on-one...Very short arms (30.8")...No experience in pass coverage...Very competitive...(Scout would not bet against him) - PFW

Pint-sized pass rusher who racked up 29 sacks and 56.5 tackles for loss in past 2 seasons..Dynamo of peeed, competigtiveness and underrted power...If he can prove he's instinctive and agile enough to handle coverage, he could to be one of the most fascinating stories of the 2019 draft...Dynamo of speed, competitiveness and underrated power...Short but not small...Little guys are often the hardest for big guys to block...Uses hands well to overcome lack of size...Fully energized when it comes to pursuit...Mixed results at Senior Bowl - Lindy's

Just scratching the surface after switching from RB to LB...Developmental prospect with suddenness to his movements and nimble feet...High energy borders on frantic...Lack of size can work to his advantage...Flexible enough to dip under blockers...Special teams demon...Can be swallowed up due to lack of size...Runs around blockers/not a lot of nuance in pass rush - Athlon

Very good size...plays with bend...strong and explosive...Aggressive tackler...Makes a lot of plays vs. run (albeit many of them down the field)...Tight-hipped but plays too loose...Not a top defender in space...Projects strictly as a 1st or 2nd round LB in a 4-3 - PFW"

Massive - Bigger than some of this years' top DL's...Surprisingly light on his feet for size...good lateral agility...Good key and diagnosis skills...Lacks sideline to sideline speed and stop & start quicks - Lindy's

.. - B Brooks (Rates # 4 without commentary

Huge inside linebacker who wins with strengt and physicality...Good blitzer...Limitations in space...a bit oif a straight line athlete...less sideline to sideline prowler /and more an attack the gaps mover...will appeal to some NFL teams as an early-down ILB but it will be dificult for him to survive in coverage as a pro - Athlon
