The Setup
Eagles were coming of a 30 -16 thumping by the Packers. Cardinals had just squashed the Giants 26- 7.

Cards woould need this week to continue being a Playoff contender. Eagles - despite their lowly record - were still in the hunt in the NFC East,

Lede
"Cards Gain "W" /Lose C. Jones."

Cards hang on for 33 - 26 win:
The Cards came out with 6-guns a blazing and opened up a 16 - 0 1Q lead. Scoring featured a safety (when Hurts was handed a grounding penalty in th end sone.

But slowly, the Eagles inched their way up the ladder - narrowing the Cardinal lead to on-score (26 - 20) by halftime. The teams went back & forth in the 2H, with the Eagles finally tying the score at 26 - 26 before halftime only to see Kyler Murray connect with a leaping DeAndrea Hopkins in the end zone (i.e. another one of those "Hail Murray" throws) midway through the 4Q. Cards hung on to preserve the lead. They enjoy "favorable headwinds" heading toward the playoffs.

The "Bright Side"

  • D-Hop's catch was "brighter than bright. The presence of Hopkins was the difference between a win or (say) a tie.

    Lee's pass

    Zeke's catch.

Special Teams play has been outstanding of late (i.e. Gardeck's all around play, blocked kick, missed XP)

The Dark Side

  • Cards took their foot off the pedal and blew a 16 point lead

Murray's failure to protect the ball is costing us momentum and points.

  • Defenders weren't consistently finishing off their pursuit (they'd let a ball carrier escape "wide and trot behind him as he picked up extra yardage.
  • Cards let Eagles convert too many third & longs.

Drake just seems to lack the extra gas in the tank of late. .

9 penalties is what mediocre teams do.

Last Word:
Cards started off playing like winners, but as they neared the end of the contest, the Eagles looked like they were getting the better of play. Cards play the Niners Saturday, with a good shot at making the playoffs. Make sure you secure the "W", guys.
