Defensive Linemen DataBase

Rnk Name Po Rnk School   Ht Wt Rd
12 Derrick Brown 1 Auburn   6046 326 1

Combine: Forty: 5.16...Wing: 80.8...BP: 27
VJ: 27.0....BJ: 108...3C: 8.22...20S: 4.79...60S: NA...

Charlie Campbell - Team sources love Brown for his quickness to push the pocket and the strength that he plays with. They see him as a three-technique for a 4-3, and he could play as a one-technique as well. They say they see Brown as a future first-round talent. ...Brown totaled 55 tackles with four sacks, four passes batted and two forced fumbles in 2019. He was an animal against Florida with a strip-sack, two fumble recoveries, lots of yardage on fumble returns, and ton of disruption in the backfield. After only playing one series against Kent State, Brown dominated against Texas A&M. He was a monster in the ground game and collected two sacks and a forced fumble as a pass-rusher. Brown came through with some phenomenal plays to help Auburn win the Iron Bowl and illustrated his freakish skill set. Racked up seven tackles and caused lots of disruption. Battled hard against Georgia and had some impressive plays versus the Bulldogs' all-star offensive line. Brown played well as a junior despite facing a bunch of double teams. He is fast and powerful at the POA. In 2017, Brown was a really solid interior lineman for Auburn. He was a tough run defender and contributed some in the pass rush. Has the upside to get better as he gains experience....Some scouts are really high on Brown and feel he has huge upside due to still being a very young player. Totaled 48 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles for a loss and one forced fumble in 2018.

Lindy's - Bigger, stronger and more athletic than most of his opponents...Difficult to move off his spot, overwhelming opponents with his raw strength and using good pad level to maintain his leverage...Can simply overwhelm one-on--one blockers with his bullrush....Terrific iniitial quickness for a man his size...(uses) a sudden over-the-arm swim to compliment his athleticism...Uses his length and strength to lasso ballcarriers seemingly out of reach.... at times ripping them down with one arm...Exceptional character on and off the field...can be a one-shot-per-play defender...Comp: Fletcher Cox..."

PFF - "Brown has prodigious strength that is his calling card. He controls offensive linemen with ease snap after snap. He has to prove he has enough quicks to rush the passer more consistently, though."

McShay -."...(A coach) can plug in Brown, a huge 6-foot-5 versatile force on the interior, to help patch a run defense.."

13
Javon Kinlaw
2 South Carolina   6052 324 1

Combine: Forty: NA...Wing: 83.7...BP: NA
VJ: NA ..BJ: NA....3C: NA...20S: NA..60S: NA...

Charlie Campbell - The first thing that stands out about Kinlaw is his size. He is a tall, thick and good-looking athlete. After passing the eyeball test, one can see some special ability as Kinlaw really fires off the ball. He is quick to close and has strength to fight off blockers. But gets in trouble when he stands up too high / working on his technique will help him to get more out of his excellent skill-set. Was superb for the Gamecocks in 2019, totaling 35 tackles with six sacks and two passes defended. In 2018, he had 4.5 sacks, 38 tackles and five passes batted. Could be a five-technique defensive end in a 3-4 and would fit well on the inside of a 4-3. Has an early-round skill set and could be a Thursday night pick.

PFF - "Kinlaw has a great combination of size (6-foot-6, 305 pounds) and athleticism when projecting to the NFL. His consistency leaves something to be desired, but he has the highest pass-rushing grade of any returning defensive tackle."

Lindy's - Dominated early Senior Bowl practices with arguably the best performance of the week...Freakish talent, boasting an exceptional combination of size and raw athletic ability..Proverbial bull in the china shop as a rusher, ripping , spinning and slicing his way thru contact to wreak havoc...Explosive upper body strength....Appears to be just scratching the surface...endured a tough upbringing...better athlete than FB player at this point....Among the more explosive players in the country but lacks fundamental football strength...frame suggests he could handle five-technique duties as a 3-4 DE,, but is more of a traditional penetrator

McShay - "...If you don't know about Kinlaw yet, do yourself a favor and go watch some highlights from his two days of Senior Day workouts. He is an absolute physical freak with the versatility to play on the interior or off the edge, and he has the power to walk offensive linemen back into the quarterback. ..."

USA Today - Impressive Senior Bowl practices put him in the same talent-classification as Derrick Brown...Possible Top 10 pick.

x Marvin Wilson 15 Florida St   6050 310 2

Not on Combine List

PFF - "Wilson is the definition of a modern nose tackle. He’s already adept at eating double teams and has a toolbox of pass-rushing moves that is on par with any other defensive tackle in the country.""...Check...USA Today

28 Raekwon Davis 6 Alabama   6060 316 2

Combine: Forty: 5.12...Wing: NA...BP: 24
VJ: 28.0...BJ: 111.0...3C: 7.95 ...20S: 4.86...60S: NA...

Gollin - Tall guy...

Charlie Campbell - Like former teammate Da'Ron Payne, Davis has a freaky combination of size, quickness and athleticism. As a sophomore, Davis showed interior pass-rush skills with a fast first-step, active hands with functional strength to fight off blocks, and a burst to close. Can use powerful bull rushes to power through blockers as well. ..Totaled 55 tackles with 5.5 for a loss and 1.5 sacks in 2018. Projects as a nose tackle in a 3-4 or 4-3, yet he could also play five-technique end in a 3-4...His lateral anchor is rare and truly phenomenal. Teams just can't move him at all in the ground game. Davis' lower and upper body strength gives him a rare ability to handle bump blocks and double teams without giving up any movement in the ground game. Did not produce the big sack total in 2018 that he did in 2017...Team sources say they still felt that Davis was worthy of going as a top-20 pick in 2019....Davis definitely has early-round potential.

Lindy's - Career production didn't trend in a positive direction...Among thr most physically imposing players in the country...impressiive initial quickness off the snap...When playing inside, his quickness could surprise would-be blockers...Raw power and length make him an effective 2-gapper...Lacks the sustained soeed and length to dip aaround the edge...Inconsistent effort to the flanks in pursuit...Character red flags...Comp: Henry Anderson..."

PFF - "Davis has elite size and length combined with above average burst for the position. He’s damn near unblockable one-on-one in the run game but has yet to earn a pass-rushing grade above 70.0 for a season."

30 Neveille Gallimore 4 Oklahoma   6020 304 2

Combine: Forty: 4.79...Wing: NA... BP: 23
VJ: NA ...BJ: NA...3C: 7.97...20S: 5.01...60S: NA...

Gollin - When evaluating DT's, you're always looking for strength, durability, quickness and the proverbial non-stop motor. Gallimore seems to perfectly fill that bill...

Charlie Campbell - A steady interior defensive lineman for the Sooners.....Lacks height, but he's a thick tackle who can eat up blockers. Recorded 30 tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles in 2019. Athletic tackle with some twitch. A penetrating disruptor who would fit best in a 4-3 as a three-technique but who could also play some nose tackle. Some have compared Gallimore to Booger McFarland or Grady Jarrett. They'd want more pass-rush ability out of Gallimore to become an every-down starter in the NFL, so they see him more as a second-day prospect.

Lindy's - "Big Canada"...First Canadian to be selected for the US Army (HS) All American Bowl...Bull strong/ one of the most gifted pure athletes at the defensive tackle position in the past decade...Able to work up and down the line without missing a a beat...Capable of matching up against double teams and eating them up...Balance is rare for a big man...Tough and willing to scrap...Pocket collapser...Can win a variety of moves......can run down plays from behind... Hustles to get back into the play...Fails to mazimize his arm length...High floor...Opportunity for refinemaent exists...Comp: Quinnen Williams..."

31 Rashard Lawrence 5 LSU   6020 308 3

Combine: Forty: 5.07...Wing: 80.4...BP: 22
VJ: NA ...BJ: 124.0...3C: 8.03...20S: NA...60S: NA...

Charlie Campbell - In 2019, he had 25 tackles, 2.5 sacks and three passes defended. Had a good game against Alabama to help the Tigers notch a huge road win. Got off to a good start in 2018, turning in a statement game against Auburn to help LSU pull off a tough road upset. When he is playing his best, Lawrence is a disruptor behind the line of scrimmage with the speed and athleticism to fire into the backfield and wreck plays. As a junior, Lawrence flashed speed, athleticism and strength to push through blockers, but he was also not consistent enough. Closed out 2018 with an excellent Fiesta Bowl performance.

Lindy's - "A five star prospect out of Louisiana...Senior leader on LSU's championshiop team...Named a "permanent team captain" as a true LSU sophomore...High energy tough guy who utilizes his naturally low COG and core strength to collapse rushing lanes...Explosive initial burst...good strength at POA...Plays tall and gets his hands in passing lanes...high grades for character on and off the field...Flashes quickness and power but doesn't consistently move the meter in either regard...Too easily rooted out by double teams...Comp: Akeem Spence..."

46 DaVon Hamilton 6 Ohio State   6038 320 3

Combine: Forty: 5.14...Wing: 79.3...BP: 33
VJ: 29.5...BJ: 102.0....3C: 7.72...20S: NA...60S: NA...

Lindy's - 28 tackles (10.5 for loss and 6 sacks) in 2019....Improved his game a decent amount from his junior season...High effort tackler...takes smart paths to the ball and won't get lost in the shuffle...Hustle player who never lets his foot off the gas...Consistent level of energy...has a hard time recovering once his balance is tipped...average physical tools...rotational player at Ohio State...Unable to counter off his initial move...Comp: Davon Gotchaux...."

Charlie Campbell - Hamilton was a dangerous interior pass-rusher as a senior in 2019, recording 28 tackle with six sacks. Over the previous three seasons, he had one sack and 38 tackles as a rotational backup. Ohio State was so loaded on the defensive line, it took time for Hamilton to earn playing time with a lot of older talent above him. Earned an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

142 Marlon Davidson 8 Auburn   6034 303 x

Combine: Forty: 5.04...Wing: 80.5...BP: 21
VJ: NA ...BJ: NA...3C: NA...20S: NA...60S: NA...

Lindy's - "Team captain as a senior...Compact and powerful with a varied skill set and versatility to line up all over the defensive line...Good quickness and core strength to consistently play on the other side of the LOS....Wins leverage battle through knee-bend and firing low and hard off the ball...better athlete than his thick frame suggests...loose-hipped to change direction smoothly...keen awareness of passing lanes...lacks quick-twitch explosiveness and bend...spends too much time reading the ball carrier...also has a pretty limited pass rush repertoire...Comp: Allen Bailey..."

Charlie Campbell - Sturdy defender at the point of attack who is a solid performer against the run. ...Had 49 tackles with 7.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 2019. Team sources say Davidson is a solid player who is smart and has good technique. Lacks a great skill set, but he finds a way to contribute for his defense. In 2018,he had 46 tackles with 4.5 for a loss, 3.5 sacks and three passes broken up. Big presence on special teams, notching a number of blocked kicks in 2018. Was wise to return for his senior year where he could improve his pass-rushing skills.

x Levi Onwuzurike 13 Washingon   x x x

Not on Combine List

PFF - "Onwuzurike is arguably the most athletic defensive tackle in the class. He explodes off the snap and through offensive linemen when he wants to. He, however, has only played 566 snaps in his career."

111 Ross Blacklock 12 LSU   6032 290 x

Combine: Forty: 4.80...Wing: 78.8...BP: NA
VJ: 29.0...BJ: 107.0...3C: 7.77...20S: 4.67...60S: NA...

Lindy's - "Tore his Achilles in preseason and missed all of 2018...brings a strong all-around skill set with the size, length and movement traits to be a disruptive 3-down defensive tackle... disruptive short-area burst...packs a punch on impact with heavy hands and an explosive bullrush...Against the run, Blacklock is diffcult to block one-on-one...remains a liability against the run at times because of struggles against double teams...could improve his awareness overall...Durability is a concern...Comp: Sheldon Richardson..."

McShay - "...I really like Blacklock's tape, and he's flying under the radar ahead of the combine later this month....The big, athletic Blacklock can help (bolster) that front..."

104 Leki Fotu 9 Utah   8050 330 x

Lindy's - Naturally massive man with broad shoulders and tree trunks for limbs...Greatest asset is his raw size and strength combination...Isn't just country strong, he's technically sound...May not test well in the forty, but shows an impressive short-area burst and arrives with bad intentions...No one is going to mistake Fotu as a consistent pass rush threat...appears content with holding the POA and waiting or the ball to come to him...bit of a one-trick pony...Comp: Eddie Goldman..."

109 Justin Madubuike 10 Texas A & M   6030 304 x

Lindy's - "Broad shouldered with a strong, thick base...boasts an intriguuing combination of first-step quickness and power...natural penetrator...every bit as powerful as his frame suggests...Plays with proper pad level...fights to the whistle...effective drag-down tackler...Averaage size...tops out after just a few steps...does not possess sustained speed to handle outside duties.....Comp: Kenny Clark"...

97 Bradlee Anae 8 Utah   6039 257 x

Lindy's - Technically refined and ultra-productive edge rusher...More agile than he looks...uses an effective outside deke move before crashing back inside with a counter...Doesn't look out of place dropping into covrage...Likely to be appreciated more by scouts and coaches due to a lack of special traits....Comp: Jabaal Sheard..."

90 Kenny Willekes 7 Michigan State   6030 262 x

Lindy's - Won the 2019 Burlsworth Trophy for "best college player who began his career as a walk-on":...Active and accurate hands...brings a decent bag of counters...Dog of a tackler...brings a nast attitude and won't quit until the play is dead...Lack of length will make his life more difficult...Lacks positional versatility....Poor athlete for the position...Comp: Tyquan Lewis..."

110 Jason Stowbridge 11 North Carolina   6040 267 x
Lindy's - Plays a lot lower than his listed height...Stays focused on the run...Some tweener traits...Too small to take on double teams...Loses a lot of stamina late in games...sawed off arms,,,Comp: Kentavius Street...."
